Occupational Therapy in Elderly Care Assessment Service (ECAS) and Day Hospital
Our services provide support for people who are at risk of declining health. Early support help people remain in their home and prevent hospital stays. The Day Hospital and ECAS are multi-disciplinary services based at the University Hospital Llandough.
The occupational therapists will carry out assessments to assess how and what a person is able to do, the tasks that they need to do and want to do within their home. When a period of outpatient rehabilitation is required, it will be undertaken from a multidisciplinary team. Occupational therapists work with people to explore all the issues that are effecting their ability to complete necessary everyday tasks such as to reduce the risk of falls, anxiety, developing memory strategies, sleep hygiene and fatigue management.
The ECAS and Day Hospital team work closely with the Vale Community Resource service (VCRS) and can referto their services, such as Care and Repair, which will support older people in the community.
