Age Connects Café – Holton Road, Barry | All our staff and volunteers are trained as Dementia Friends and they consider all of their activities as dementia friendly. This service is for people aged 60+.

Physical Opportunities

Elderfit | Exercise sessions for the older person. Attend a class in your local community delivering exercise for the 50+ person

FAME | Is a 24 weeks exercise programme that has been shown to prevent or reduce falls, reduce the fear of falling and increase habitual physical activity and fitness.

Golden Pass Scheme – Vale of Glamorgan | This project offers Vale residents aged 60+ the opportunity to access eight free sessions of sport and physical activity in their community.

The Active Leisure Scheme | is an initiative designed to encourage people aged 50 and over to take part in regular physical activity.

Tai Chi | Tai Chi has health benefits regardless age or levels of fitness.

Home Safety

Cardiff Telecare and Vale of Glamorgan Telecare. | Operates 24 hours a day 365 days per year and links to an alarm receiving centre and mobile response unit that allows you to stay safe and independent at home with someone to call for help when you need it.

Care & Repair Cymru | is a Welsh charity helping older people to live independently through repairs, adaptations and home maintenance. 

Fall risk assessment to stop falls in the elderly | fall prevention | Complete your own falls home safety checklist using a screening tool about the 25 most commons home hazards linked to falling and offers solutions.

Preventing falls in your home | RoSPA is a leading voice in health and safety that campaigns to reduce avoidable accidents at home, on the road, at work and at leisure.
