Keeping Me Well - Cardiff and Vale University Hospital

Needing Urgent Assistance with your Psychological and Mental Health?

This website is designed to be a routine service providing information and advice, and doesn’t deal with urgent or emergency mental health matters.

For urgent mental health support call 111 and press OPTION 2.

The service is available for people of all ages, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in all areas of Wales to ensure those in need of support can access it quickly when they need it most.

For urgent help that is not an emergency you should contact your GP in the first instance, who can refer you to the most appropriate mental health services. If outside of GP hours you should visit the out-of-hours GP at accident and emergency (A&E).

If you need to speak to someone today, the following organisations may also assist you:

  • Community Advice and Listening Line, which  you can contact 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 0800 132737, offers a free confidential listening and emotional support service, as well as information and literature on mental health and related matters for people in Wales. Anyone concerned about their own mental health or that of a friend or relative can access the service.
  • The Samaritans, who you can contact 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 08457 909090, offer free confidential emotional support to anyone experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those that may lead to suicide. Face-to-face meetings are also available at local offices.
