The National Electronic Assistive Technology Service (NCEAT)
The National Electronic Assistive Technology Service, Wales (NCEAT) provides assessments and equipment for complex communication needs, assistive technology for computer access and environmental controls for children and adults (environmental controls are available for people over the age of 14).
Referrals
We accept referrals for patients registered with a GP in Wales. The referral can be made by any registered Health Care Professions Council member or a registered Medical Professional.
How to Refer
A copy of our referral form can be downloaded from our website, or you can contact the office for a printed version.
All referrals will be triaged by our team of professionals and if accepted, an appointment letter will be sent out with details of attendees.
This may include:
- Clinical Scientists
- Speech & Language Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Clinical Technologists
- Technical Instructors
- Therapy Assistants
Assessment
The team will complete a comprehensive assessment. If a device is recommended, a trial will be arranged as soon as the equipment is available.
Provision
Equipment will be provided on a trial basis. If successful, the device will be placed on permanent loan to the patient and any recommendations for implementations of use given to supporting professionals.
If no longer required, the equipment must be returned to the NCEAT.
Review & Servicing
The equipment provided will be checked annually. This will include a review of use and suitability, and a service for safety and maintenance.
