A child’s role in their own foot health

Patient Activation

The care children receive in a healthcare setting, is only part of their journey to good health. What children can be encouraged to do for themselves plays a very important part in keeping them healthy.

In the medical profession, we describe this as ‘Patient Activation’.

Patient Activation describes the knowledge, skills and confidence in managing your own health and care.

Your activation can help you make positive health and lifestyle choices.

If you understand how best to look after yourself, you are more likely to live a healthy life and manage your long -term health conditions better.

As part of your Podiatry appointment, your child may be asked to complete a short survey.  This will help us to understand the support you might need to manage your foot health.
