Orthoses are commonly known as insoles. Insoles prescribed by the podiatrist help support your foot and reduce your pain. They can be worn in different shoes as long as the shoe is deep enough for the insole.
Your body needs to get used to the insoles. Gradually wear them in. Start for 1 hour then increase by another hour each day for about a week. Once they are comfortable aim to wear them all day long. Insoles should not cause rubbing or pain.
These shoe shops in Cardiff and Vale offer shoe brands that can accommodate orthoses and wide shoes, and offer a measuring service. Please note we do not endorse any brand or shop.
