Strength and Stamina
If you are feeling weak as a result of a hospital admission or a period of extended inactivity, the following exercises will help improve your strength and stamina.
The videos have been produced in line with the ‘pacing’ approach to recovery, starting with basic exercises at level one and becoming increasingly challenging as you step up through the levels. Your starting point could be on any level, so start where is comfortable for you.
The plan will guide and motivate you while working towards your goal of improving your activity level and helping you to recover. These programmes can be done at home and don’t require any specialist equipment.
You should stop this programme if you do not feel you are progressing with you rehabilitation or you are experiencing some of the following symptoms, as you may be experiencing ME / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome:
- disproportionate levels of tiredness after activity;
- debilitating fatigue;
- tiredness after sleep;
- memory or attention problems;
- joint or muscle pain;
- changes in your sensations or any ongoing flu-like symptoms.
